Zoo York x A.skate board release

The long awaited Zoo York x A.skate collab board designed by yours truly is now available. Ask your favorite skate shop to order you a few. Im working of an illustration for a tee to benefit the A.skate Foundation (www.askate.org). Needs some more detail and color, but overall I think its looking good. I’ll post the end result soon…..

Support Askate!

Children with autism often struggle with the ability to follow directions, play on a team due to the lack of social skills, and many require activities to be performed on their own terms.  Skateboarding and autism just fit!  No team, no coach, rip solo.

The A.skate Foundation is a 501(c)3 non profit that allows children with autism to be a part of our social world through skateboarding.  They hold clinics for children with autism at no cost to the families, give grants to children with autism for skateboard gear, as well as promote awareness and educate families about the skateboard industry.  Five years ago 1:150 children were diagnosed with autism. Today 1:91 children are diagnosed with autism, 1:58 of those being boys according to the statistics on TACA now.

Here are a few of the things that they do:

• hold clinics nationwide for children with autism at no cost to the families
• give “Grants for Gear” for kids to purchase skateboard gear
• hold fundraisers and events to promote our cause

Autism, like skateboarding, can be unpredictable and often times unruly. We embrace the parts of autism that are hard to understand and give these kids an outlet that is free of rules or judgment, and allows them to be social without being “social”.

I am putting some time in to help Askate and bring some skate clinics to NY. I am also looking in to put together some sort of event/fundraiser to raise money for the foundation and spread awareness. If you would like to help in any way please contact me or Askate.org. As a skater for well over 15 years and a father, this is a cause I am fully behind.

Drawing hands have always been a pain for me. No matter how decent they look, I always feel I can draw them better, never satisfied with my result.  Anyways, I came across this nice little write-up on drawing hands on Tom Richmond’s blog. He really puts it all into perspective, good stuff. Give it a read if you’re in the same boat I am.

Reprint this tee?

This ones been a fan favorite for a while. It was printed up a few years ago and I still get asked if its available for sale. I was thinking of printing a few more up, maybe with some different background colors. If there is enough interests Ill jump on it.

Been busy this week putting together designs for various clients. I have some samples of the work below that I have been messing with. Cant show the full outcome until O.K.s are made.
Anyways, its the weekend, its hot, get out there and enjoy!

Maybe new sticker?

Started to experiment with cartoon looking characters, just for my own sake. I like how this came out, needs a few minor tweaks though. Maybe print it as a sticker or on a ladies tank top or something. Its my little mash-up of secret societies and wealth.

New EXC “Reaping Black” tees this weekend

I am dropping a few designs I printed up for the summer this weekend.  I based it around a theme of  “Reaping Black”, the meaning behind that name was because of an idea I had to do “biker” themed graphics.  That idea obviously changed when illustrations took a left turn instead of staying the course. I dig the results anyways and decided to keep the name cause it sounds kinda cool to me (yea, im a dork). Take a look at them below. I am also going to print some ladies tees and tanks. There will also be some limited artists “collab” (god I hate that word) tees in July if all works out.

Theres also some skytop flicks from last weeks Maloof Money Cup, here in Queens NY. They were taken on my Iphone so quality isnt that great.  It was good to see all the big time pros not land a damn trick. But P-rod, Cole, Pudwell, and Shane O’neill killed it, they are freakin’ machines!
The new park at FMP is sick, cant wait to hit it up.
